What do we call this new form of government the Republican party has invented? What do we call a system where one of the political parties is willing to shamelessly utilize actions that would be grounds for arrest in a private setting?
The GOP learned a very bad lesson from last year's tax cut fight. After Obama traded extending tax cuts that go largely to the wealthy for a short extension to unemployment insurance (Now running out, a completely ignored story.), the Republicans looked around for something else breakable.
An expensive vase with the words "Worlds Economy" was at hand. Now the GOP thugs are nonchalantly tossing it from hand to hand. If they drop it, they'll put their hands up and playact an insincere "Oops! If only you'd given us everything we can't get legitimately at the ballot box, we'd still have an economy. Where's that gov't shutdown vase?"
The truly nauseating part of this is that the Republicans will only agree to a short-term debt extension, meaning that we get to go through this extortion again early next year. After having a 2nd round of extortion over a gov't shutdown this Fall.
The GOP will not relent until they take complete control of the gov't, or we die tryin'. They've went over the ideological waterfall in a Trotsky barrel and any of their ends justify any means.
